Hanoded (The Wanderer)

The Jewish and Armenian people share a history filled with persecutions and consequent wandering. Originated from these traditions are two folk tunes, woven in this version, into one song of longing. The first, an instrumental melody composed by Armenian composer Ara Dinkjian is originally titled “Fly Away”. The second, a Hebrew song titled “Shir Hanoded” (The Wanderer Song) consists of a traditional Bukhari melody with Hebrew lyrics fitted later on by Israeli lyricist David Shimoni.

Performed by Maya Haddi, the song tells the story of a bird, never finding a warm safe nest, while wandering away with its tormented soul.
